Another Tuesday P-day!

hey dad,
i am doing really well, today i am really excited because we are going to on a tour of the city and to the market which apparently is one of the biggest in the world. plus we get to see ancient city guatemala which apparently they believe is from nephi times. so that will be fun today. i will take lots of pics and send them home. the computers here are slow so they take for ever to upload but as soon as i can send it home i will. and yes keep that stuff on the ipod. if you ever send anything here to guatemala, they say that if you put a jesus sticker on the letters or package, it is usually more safe then other stuff because no one wants to mess with the those letters. ha its kinda funny but thats the safest way to go about it. and exactly today we have 3 weeks left. starting tomorrow we switch to the solomente espanol schedule, so we only speak spanish except on p days, it will be tough but it is really effective. the older group left this morning at 8 am so now i am officially the older group, we recieve the new north americans tonight at 9 pm so that will be fun to see them. the people here are really nice and are really humble, it is a change because they really love religion and they believe everything we tell them. almost all the latino missionaries here are in their 20s and are converts and it is because of missionaries that got them converted and out on missions. we have been eating just stuff at the mtc which is really really good food. 5 days out of the week we have the mtc staff cook for us and then the other 2 days we have food catered. breakfast usually consist of beans and eggs, which i might add beans rice and potatos are usually at every meal no matter what. then one time for lunch we had these amazing croscant things ,and when you bit into them they were a ham and cheese sandwich, it was so good. on our p days we go to the temple play sports all day long and email home. it is very relaxed here. we have to do our laundry every 4 days because it gets so humid here. and yes i cant wait for conference. ever since i have been here, we watch videos from the 12 and the prophets and i love hearing from them now. it is great. well i will be emailing again around 2 my time. i dont know what time that is there but that is when we will be back. i will talk to you later.
i love you,

hey there, the spanish is going pretty well. sometimes i do not understand how i know quite a bit but it is coming along. ill be teaching a lesson and it just kind of flows. it is dificult but it is coming along. and yes i see elder pollack all the time. it really isnt to big here so we see everyone. our zone districts are being combined so we will be in the same class again. i have met a couple people from phoenix and we have become really good friends too. their names are elder adams and elder durfey. they are pretty cool kids. we all get along really well and make it fun here. they are doing some changes right now and the companionships are being changed, but they are not sure about that so we dont know whats happening till tomorrow. i am glad to hear that elders covington and cruz  are doing well. and i am really jealous that elder cruz is in the preisthood session. that is so cool. a elder in my district (elder woodfield) his mom is in the tabernacle choir so he is stoked to see her this sunday. i am not sure about my visa but guatemala doesnt really have a strict policy about it so it is not a big deal. my wart is doing alright though nothing really happened. it blistered up a little bit but then went away. i have a pretty big scar though. i do not have both chargers and the food is coming along really well. we had mcdonalds for breakfast today and at the mall for lunch mcdees again. i got my letter from nanny today and yes i got your stamps. i have not got your package yet. the supervisor here is pretty strict so he keeps stuff from us randomly. no one knows why. and i will have to talk to the president about sister summerhays and see if he knows her. im sure he does. he is a pretty awesome guy and knows a ton of information about everything and has an answer to all our questions. the storms here are crazy. we get a daily rain storm but there is no lightning. it rains pretty hard too but i love it. it keeps the weather cool here. also we went to the mall and market today. it was so much fun. the mall was outragous so i didnt buy anything from there but i bought a couple stuff at the market. we bargained big time and talked prices down alot. i bought a couple jerseys and some bracelets to send home to you all. oh and so the guy that i am in a picture with. he was our AP last time. he is in a current project the church is putting on. PBS, the BYU channel and possibly A and E if it gets big enough is recording him. he has been recorded a year before his mission and while he has been out here in the mtc. I guess it will be like a reality tv show showing the life of the missionary and he is going to the noth guatemala mission, but it should be showing on tv or something. so look out for that. there is a group of about 10 missionaries doing it. he is a really cool guy and such a example to all of us here. but yeah look out for that. his name is elder Nelson. and yes i feel like i have been out for 6 months now instead of only 6 weeks. but they say once you get to the field time picks up a ton. i still believe this phrase to be true. the days are like weeks, and the weeks are like days. at the end of the week it is amazing how fast time flys by. well i have to get going now. i will be emailing next wednesday on our pday, but the only reason i emailed today was because we went to the market and mall today. it was so much fun. i will have to be taking you guys there when we come to visit again. youll love it. the market was a 3 story place that goes underground. and the mall was currently 4 stories but is going to be 5 stories i think soon. well i will talk to you later. i love you all,
love elder shipley
