wow that sounds like a really good talk that scott (Assante farewell) gave. that is crazy. i remember when everyone would tell us in like priesthood or deacons or other meeting that only a few of us would go on missions, and we were always like nah everyone will go, but its crazy to see how that actually played out.

oh and real quick before i forget, so the address i first gave you still works but they say that this one is a more sure one. so here it is

so anyways, this last week has been crazy and tiring and the most work i have ever done. so the area i am in is called Mixco. it is what you would imagine seeing in like a third world country. it is not very nice but the people here are soo nice and really funny. there is this place in side mixco that is called tierra blanca. so tuesday we met our president and he was really really nice and hilarous. he speaks pretty good english but not to much. it was sad saying goodbye to president steimle because he was like a grandpa to me. and was so nice. but presidente alvarado is really nice. he has a really nice apartment which we went to and he intereviewed all of us coming in. there were 18 of us. which is a pretty big group to be taking in. after that he surprised us by telling us we were going to the capilla now and getting out new comps. so we went there and i got my new trainer comp. there are 200 missionaries in the area an they were pretty cool. there were also parents there picking up their kids and it was cool to see that. my trainer comp is Elder Kaden Hardy.
he is really really nice and funny and helps me alot with my spanish and teaches me gospel principles. he was telling me that when he first came in no one taught him and he wished someone would of so that is why he helps me. alot. the spanish is coming along decently. i can pretty much understand it and get the jist of the information but i still cant really speak to much. the apartment we live in is really nice and cool. it is huge 2 story and and we only pay like 800 quetz for it, which is like 100 dollars. but if it was like in america it would be like 400 dollars, it is nice. the ward is so nice and there are alot of realloy nice people. i didnt have to speak but i had to say the prayer in almost all the meetings.

i cant wait for feburary so i can get those treats, elder hardy says to put them in a sealed bag so that ants dont get in them. also i need some showering body wash, they dont sell that here and the bars of soap are pretty gross. so a little funny stuff. one night we had dominoes and it was delicious. elder hardy had a dr pepper so he shared one with me.

we walk like literally 10miles a day and just walk on mountains all the time. imagine walking like half way up mount lemon and it being a valley. that is pretty much our area. it is crazy when we have to walk from side to side all the time. some lady here had a baby, and the way they treat the people here is so different. the girls can only be in the hospital for 24 hours, they are in a room with cement floors so it is loud, it is burning hot in the room and just anyone can walk in and say hi, it was so weird. ha but i have alot of respect for these girls because they dont even know what nice is so that is what they think it is. oh the first night we were here this lady gave me and my comp a kiss on the cheek it was weird. i have been 2 months now with no contact and then that happens. elder hardy said that is the first time it happened in his mission. well that is pretty much it for this week. i will talk to you next monday. i love you all and hope you are doing well and getting healthy again. talk to you later.

love elder shipley
