Hey mom, wow that sounds like a really really good funeral**. Yeah i talked with the Mission President and he said that he was going to talk with the family of Shane so i think he called them but I'm not sure. I'm sure Shane is doing fine in Heaven and is doing the work of the Lord. We had the opportunity to hear from Elder Ballard this last week and he told us that we are in a war, we are here on earth fighting the war of heaven and as missionaries we are on the front line of this war. I know that Shane is continuing his work on the other side and is preparing for the Second Coming. Because in the end we all know who is victorious and we all know who will win in the end. We must remember to always choose the right and to never leave God´s side. Unfortunately Elder Ballard said, Satan is working his heart out, he is working harder then we work. Satan Works 24/7 where as missionary´s work only about 12 hours of the day, but he said we have the power to take out Satan and we have the power to over rule him.

OK so here is my week.
Monday, So not much happened this day other than we had a Family Home evening with this one family that has been inactive for about 4 years. we were talking about the importance of coming to church and he just couldn't understand it. my comp kept saying stuff after stuff and just couldn't get through to him. then i felt prompted to ask him a question. i asked him, "Luis, how did you feel when you were baptized in this church"? He said he felt great and he felt the spirit so strong, he felt peace in his life and love for his family. he said it was the best feeling he has ever felt. then i reminded him, that when we take the sacrament we are renewing our baptismal covenants every week, and that when he takes the sacrament he can feel that same feeling. then i promised him as a representative of Jesus Christ that he would have that feeling if he lived the commandments and endured to the end and went to church and took the sacrament every single week. it really hit him hard and he was so thankful for that. anyways after that we ate some cinnamon roles and they were alright, yours are still better mom haha, but yeah so that was Monday. and yes he came to church on Sunday. that is one of the cool things about being a missionary is that we have to power to promise people things and we have the promise of the Lord that what we promise people will come true, we just need to make the right promises and listen to the spirit on what to promise.

Tuesday - So on Tuesday we did a lot of tracking. We found this list of about 40 `people who are not baptized so we are tracking them down. and man we are working pretty hard. we found some really really cool people in the process of doing it too. there is this one kid named Ector and he is trapped in his house for now because he can not leave with out being tempted to do drugs. how sad, anyways we are working with him and he is really enjoying our visits, he is scared to leave but were currently working with him to get over that fear so he can come to church. then we taught him about the power of prayer and he said he felt so good after praying that he thinks for once in his life that he has a chance. then after that we had a few other appointments but i felt like we needed to visit this one family and also bring a member with us, who is Javier. We visited Saida and her husband Edy and were just talking and having a good time. then when it came time to teach i asked them how their prayers were going, Edy told us bad because he is currently in debt 20 000 quetzals. wow that is a lot of money, ha, anyways he said he is praying but has no idea what to do and is really confused on what is happening . we shared with him a couple scriptures and told him that if there ever was a time to pray it was right now. he needs to be close to the Lord and that the Lord would help him. the Lord gives us challenges to make us strong. it helps build our faith and through that we can be saved. so that was Tuesday

Wednesday- Not much happened here we just went on divisions with our mission leader and then found a couple people. we visited this one lady who her mother died and she had a dream about her mom and her mom told her to get to the temple. she said she couldn't enter it but she just needed to be around it. When she got there she said she could feel the spirit of her mom there with her and she was so happy and felt so comforted. she loved it. then my comp shared with her a similar experience and the spirit was so strong there. my comps mom died of skin cancer i guess about 2 years ago. he was just talking about how much he loved her and misses her but he knows in the great plan of God that there was a reason for that.

Thursday- So this day was awesome. first off we started in the morning With Elder Ballard, it was so cool all the missionaries in our mission were sitting waiting in the room reading our scriptures because that is what our president told us to do, then Elder Ballard walked in and you could just feel the spirit when he walked in. that guy who took the picture of me was his translater. anyways Elder Ballard talked alot about how we are in a war and we are fighting so hard to protect the kingdom of God. it was so great. i loved it. then we also heard from President Clarke who is the Central America President. he gave a really cool talk too on how to be a successful missionary. it was so neat. i love the Spirit that walks with those guys and i really hope that i have that in my life. i hope people can feel that when i go in their homes. The feeling of just wanting to be better when your in the presence of them. so cool. so that was thursday. oh p.s. we made your pudding out our comedors house, and it was so good, i loved it.

Friday- So my First convert Diana Monroy went to this conference Thursday night that Elder Ballard was at for the members, and she told me she loved it. she said she was so happy to be there and she said she has never felt the Spirit so strong when he came in and talked. she loved every moment of it. that is so neat for her, she was just baptized like 2 months ago and she was able to have that experience. she is such a neat girl and so inspiring. then we went to this other house and taught this family, then i taught the kids a little English and we were on our way. it was really cool.

Saturday- So we started the morning by me teaching this other kid English. he knows it pretty well so all we did was tell stories so he could have practice in talking and then write down words he didn't know. ha i told him some pretty funny stories, like the time we put the gorilla in the pool to scare you, the truck incident how it was broken into. and others. ha. it was funny and we had a good time. then that night we are teaching this 9 year old girl, and when we asked her to pray she said one of the most sincere prayers i have ever heard. she prayed for everyone in her family and for us individually and our families, then she prayed for all the homeless people that are without houses. it was the sweetest thing i have heard mom.

Sunday- so Sunday, so President Clarke came and spoke to our Stake on Sunday which was such a neat experience. he is such a cool guy and really laid down the law on the members. he asked us what is better to say that you have a testimony or that you are a convert. he said just because you were baptized at 8 doesn't mean you cant be a convert, we need more converts in this world and we need to work hard at achieving that. Converts act, they live the gospel. that was so cool and man i want to be better now. so that was that, then afterwards one of our investigadors was there and he was telling me that he could tell that he needs to be baptized now. the problem is that he is going to another church and he needs to decide. so we set an appointment on Friday and I'm going to lay down the whole church for him and why we are the true church. so I'm looking forward to that. then we went to lunch with this one family. wow their food is my favorite, we ate bbq chicken with guacamole which was just the best ever. it was so good, i told her that she gives my mom a run for her food. haha, she said that she wants to come to the states and you guys can open a restaurant. ha i thought that was pretty funny.

well anyways there is my week and it sure was a good one. it has been going pretty fast, i cant believe that we are in the 3rd week of the change already. it scares me how fast time goes. the following people want me to say hi to you, ha i don't know why but the Family of Aurora, which is in the picture i sent, the one with girls and guys, The family Vasquez, which is of all the little girls. Hermana Flor, she worked in the ccm and she helps us so much, we also ate at their house on Sunday, and Hermano Borris and Hermana Nora, which they are like our family. I promised them that I would bring you guys to visit them in 2 years, so get ready for a trip in December when i get back haha. also i promised the families that i took pictures with that I would put their pics on the blog so if you could do that please. well there is my week, oh and can you tell Sister Cruz that i eat Pupusas almost every day and they are authentic El Salvador Pupusas. they are so good, i just remember her saying that was Joseph's favorite meal. they really are really good. well that's all, till next week this is Elder Shipley signing off. haha kidding, i love you guys and hope all is well.

love elder daniel shipley
