Hey there family,

Wow that is so awesome about Riley and Josh, i am so excited for them and how cool for Riley too that he will be speaking Spanish with all of us. haha i like how you say that you need to close now and review your lesson and the time of your email is 2 53 am, what are you doing up so late, that is not healthy and as it says in the doctrine and covenants early to bed early to rise, and you will receive blessings for that, you will have less stress in your life and the lord will just bless you more. (wow, did I just get scolded by my son??)

well here is my week.
Monday - So we didn't do much on Monday we were supposed to go to the capilla and play dodge ball, but barely anyone showed up so that was lame. but in the night time we taught an old couple about the plan of salvation. it went really well and we really focused on the part of our purpose here on this earth, which really only comes down to 4 things, baptism, receive the holy ghost, repentance, and endure to the end. it really is so easy and the Lord does not ask that much from us. He only asks us to keep His commandments. one analogy that an elder used that i liked is this: life is like an escalator that is going down and we need to get up to go to God. Baptism is stepping on to it, then enduring to the end is by walking up it, when we sin it is as good as us standing still and going down and away from God. but when we repent we start walking up again and then we can make it to God. so that was Monday.

Tuesday - So Tuesday was kind of a bummer too, all of our lessons that we had fell through and that was just a bummer. it is so frustrating when you meet really cool people but then they just don't follow through and hear the rest. so we went with our mission leader that night and he took us to another family for a family home evening, we talked about faith and why it was important. through our faith we can do anything. but without it we can do nothing. but in order to get faith we need to exercise it. if we don't do that then we will never grow faith and we will just be lost. Alma 32 is such a cool chapter about that and i really like the example of comparing the word to a seed.

Wednesday - today we went and taught christian a little about English. i just have him read the news paper and translate something for me, and pull words out that he doesn't know and then he memorizes the new words for next time. then i teach him a little about grammar and we call it a day. wow i never knew how hard and complex English actually is. there is literally a word for everything that we have, but the easier part is that we don't need to conjugate words like they do in Spanish. there are pros and cons in all of it.

Thursday - So on this day we decided to go up the mountain a little bit and to work up there. Our mission leader took us to this family he felt that we needed to visit. so we went and visited this man and he was telling us all his problems, mainly that he didn't have work and didn't know what to do, Mixco is a really poor area and there isn't too much work here. so anyway while we were there we were going to teach about counting your many blessings, so we sang the song, and right when the song ended his phone rang, and some one called him with work. then we prayed and when we finished with the prayer the phone rang again and more people called with work. it really was a miracle. he just started bawling and saying how thankful he was that we came and that God is with us and that we brought Him back into his house. it was really neat and a touching experience. so then we just taught him about the importance about tithing and why he needed to pay it and how he would be blessed if he did so. then as we were leaving his house he wanted to take us to some houses and show us people we could visit. so he showed us some houses that we will start teaching this week. it was really neat. then we had to leave because it is pretty dangerous after a certain time, but he is going to work with us on Saturday and show us some more people. what a neat guy. he told us that he has faith in us that we can help these people. the man also came to church which i guess its been awhile since he has come. so that was really neat.

Friday - we went to the Mision leaders house again and his wife is our comedorKeele from Utah, ha how funny is this, he knew this girl that i knew from efy like 5 years ago. haha, he said she is a cool girl. so with him we went and visited a few people and it was just so fun. we had a blast, they have a saying here in Guatemala that when you find a good friend you fall good with them. ha so elder keele told me jokingly that i fell good with him. haha he is such a cool guy and works pretty hard. and teaches really good lessons. i liked how he taught and I'm going to adopt a little bit of that into my lessons. so we went and visited this one family that just recently bought a dish washer, they had absolutely no idea how to use it, but wow you should of seen the look on their faces when we showed them how. haha, not very many people have nice machinery here, because it is very poor, but haha it was so funny, they just loved it and were calling it the magic machine. haha such a funny family. then we went and were going home when my friend who is normally drunk but wasn't this night told me that i fell good with him too and told me that i had a good spirit with me, ha i just gave him a palabra de sabiduria pamphlet and invited him to church. so that was Friday.

Saturday - on this day we just went to the Zone Leaders area in Lo De Coy which is right next to our area. there we did some service for a lady who is investigating the church. i have no idea what we did or how to even come close to explaining it. ha but it was pretty easy. and it involved these tube things that i pounded, but i must of pounded like close to 500 of them. ha got a good arm work out. so i guess this lady hasn't been progressing too much but after this day it really helped her and they can actually see her getting baptized soon now. i guess i fell good with her too, so when she gets baptized i told her to invite me to the baptisim and i would go. such a cool family. then they bought us all pizza which was pretty good. after Lo De Coy we went to Nueva Monserratt for a baptisim that the Hermanas were having. it went really good and i had to lead the music. ha it was so embarressing because at one point i had no idea what the song was, so i just started making it up and i was way off. haha, but the bishop of that ward helped me out and saved me. haha, he was a really nice guy and the hermanas are lucky to have him in their area.

Sunday - So today was a good day also, we went to church and a few investidadors came to church which was cool. then after words we went and ate at Hermana Chacoms house and ate really really good meat with potatatos, and toritllias, it was so good, man that lady gives you a run for your money mom haha but we ate there and talked a little bit and then were on our way. we went to Tierra Blanca and did a little bit of contacting and talked with a few people and found 5 new investidadors with 2 new families. so that is really cool. and they seemed really interested so we´ll see how that goes. then that night we went to the house of Diana my first convert, and Hermana Flor and her mom came and Hermano Boris came too. and we went there and i taught a little from 3 nefi 11 about the coming of Christ in America, and then we watched the movie the testaments. it was so good, i love that movie so much and the ending is so powerful. Diana loved it. then we ate these tostadas with guacamole and hot chocolate. then were on our way home. so it was a pretty good week, not a lot of success but i feel good about this week so we will see how it turns out.

so there it is, and here is a wish list of stuff id like.
the book/court case called, The Day of Defense. The contact stuff, Hot Cheetoes, An Arizona jersey, Cardinals, Suns, ASU, either or will do but i just want one so i can represent Arizona, haha, White Fudge Oreos, haha i dont blame you for eating them, they are delicious. Body wash old spice, and also some more face wash. i cant buy that here, Gospel doctrine in English, more Pens, but like the ones i like, i´ll send a picture, Scripture marker like the one that i bought from that one store that has like 1 colors stored in the top, more deodorant, the paper to write letters to people on, and paper notebooks so i can take more notes. (Bro Banner, Daniel's former seminary teacher, is traveling to Guat in March and he has offered to take a package to Daniel - can I squeeze into a carryon?? - I guess I'd be over the 50 pound limit!)

and i cant really think of anything else but whatever you want. well i better get going, i love you guys and hope all is going well for you. i love you guys and miss you,

love your son,

elder daniel shipley
