hey there,

haha and i got you screaming on video as well. it is pretty funny. but yeah it was really good listening to your guys voice. your english sounds so profound too. haha. i was talking with one of my buddies the other night and we were talking about that how our english has just gotten so bad and we just speak a really basic english. for the last like 5 months i have talked nothing but spanish. my last 2 comps dont know any english so it is helping me. anyways here is my week.

monday - So last monday the President asked us to visit Jenifer if we can every day to just teach her some things that she needs to know. so we went on monday and we taught her about the word of wisdom. she agreed to it and it went well. then we had a family home evening with her family and with the family to mamalinda. we just talked a little bit and then we played some games and ate some snacks. it went well and for pday we just played soccer. im getting pretty good at it. i was the goaley and i was unstoppable. no one could score on me. well only every once in awhile. but yeah it was fun.

Tuesday - So there is this family in our ward, a new family and they are so cool. they are pure newly weds but they are funny and we always have fun going there. we always eat tostadas with them too which are so good. so we went and visited them and i taught about how we need to build our foundation on Christ and when we build our foundation we can build it with the friends that we have. we need to surround ourselves with good people and when we do that they can strengthen us and can help us live better lives and be more strong in the church. i have always been blessed with that too. but then we taught about how your friends who aren't members we can help them out and can convert them. but yeah it went well. after that we went with the family * and we just played some games with them. they have quite a big problem in their family and have many difficulties. they are always fighting. so were trying to teach them ways that they can be happier and work together as a family. the mom told me that i fall well with her, which is a huge compliment here. but she said she always feels better with her family after i leave their house. so that was cool to hear.

Wednesday - so we are starting to do new things here in this area for ideas to find people to teach. i was cleaning the house last week and i found 4 area books that were really old. like from 2000 to today. so we pulled out all the papers and we are looking for these people. one of the old investigators we found is really neat. her name is marelany. she was so nice. she opened the door and said, ah they have returned. haha then she let us in, fed us, and we talked for a little bit, i helped her daughter with her english and it went really well. then after we taught her a little from the dream of lehi. my comp taught it then i compared it to God how he wants all of us to be like him. he wants us all to return and partake of the fruit with him and have the joy that He has. He calls us but it is our choice if we go or not. whether we will stay faithful or not. so i thought that went pretty well with her. after her we visited the family deloroca and talked with them about the atonement. they loved it. anyways after that, in the night we started my classes of english. it went pretty well and we had about 15 people who came. i just had them take a test to see where they stand as far as their english. it wasn't too well which made me happy, so I'm going to just teach the basics. the church has a good program for the latinos so they can learn english here on their mission, so I'm just using that same program. but it went well.

Thursday - so really the only highlight from this day was when we taught the other kid who is going to be baptized as well. we were teaching him about God and Jesus Christ. he has a really hard time remembering who is who, but he really is a smart kid. so we helped him remember who is who and got him going on the right path.

Friday - So we went and talked with that jenifer girl again and we taught about the law of chastity. it went well and we explained it pretty clearly. that lesson is always a little awkward to teach but it went well with her. then after we went contacting in the area for a little bit. wow we got surprised with this one lady. she was a crazy lady. she was all nice at first but then like freaking satan came out of her or something. she just started yelling about how we don't need baptism and how in the bible it doesn't say h2o. and how we don't need prophets. and then we pulled out the book of Mormon and she just looked up and did this scary laugh. haha

Saturday - so saturday was probably one of the best days of my mission. president alvarado came and did our interviews in the morning and it went really well and he was impressed with the stuff i was doing to change this area. he even told me that he has a strong impression that i will be the elder to make this cold area a hot area.  then other elders had their interviews and we prepared for the  baptism. after we had the baptism at 10 am and president Alvarado baptized her. it went really well and it was so spiritual. just one of the sweetest baptisms ever, president and his wife was there, with like 10 elders too. so it was neat. . after president finished up the interviews with other elders and then we went off to lunch. after lunch we had another baptism of a kid named angel. he was the kid who confused about god and jesus. that went well too and it was a good service too. i think they are all good because they literally are parties in the heavens and it is a really happy moment. anyways after that we had our class of english again and it went alright. only 2 people came and they were different people but we found out that the other people didn't know it was on saturday too. so hopefully on wednesday we´ll have more come again. this night we learned how to pray in english and it was pretty cool. they were excited to be learning how to do that. but yeah that was my saturday and it was really sweet.

Sunday - So in church first off the 2 baptisms from the day before were confirmed members in the church and they received the holy ghost. Jenifer was so happy and i could just see it in her face. i was so happy for them and i told them how happy it made me because it was the same day my mom was made a member, they were happy to hear that too. by the way they all send their love at you guys. so after testimony meeting we went to class and one of the Sunday school teachers wanted us to go in and talk to her class about missionary work and how cool it is and all. it went well and we got those kids really excited. then after the teacher was talking to the class about us, and she gave me a really nice compliment about how she could feel a warm spirit with me and a hope and desire to do alot for the people in this area. it was really cool. she was so nice with what she said about me and i felt better after that. one thing i have really learned here in the mission is that when i am with someone or doing something. i am 100 percent in that thing. when im teaching a family i am 100 for 100 with them. not thinking about other people or anything. i give it my all and it really helps me focus on them. they love it and i love it. i think that is something we should strive to do in our lives. focus completely 100 percent on what were doing. Its like what elder Clark of the 70 told us. when he is in his work he is 100 percent with work. with his family 100 percent with his family. church - 100 percent in the church. his mind is only focused on that. he told us that is the key to success and getting things done.

well i love you guys so much and i cant wait to talk to you this weekend. it will be great. remember to figure out a plan so that i can talk to everyone for a decent amount of time. i love you guys and miss you so much. i´ll talk to you later. take care

love
elder daniel shipley
