hey mom, how are you doing, thanks for your email i really enjoyed that, your questions first. no word on elder oakey. The new president still hasnt made too many changes, he is still learning the mission and stuff but i mean there is nothing too big.

Notice "the tie" - first day of the month - love it!!

so last week we went wtih this one member family called the family ruiz. we taught them about the love of the family and how we need to be nice with all the things we do and show respect. How can we honestly show someone our love if we cant even say it. so what we made them do was say they loved their mom. there were 2 that were taking it as a joke, but i just kinda snapped at them. haha, i was just telling them how sad it was making me to see them laugh about something so sincere that we all need. then i expressed with them how much i love you mom and they could really feel it. ha, i dont know what i said but they started crying and they were just like, we want to love our mom that much too. ha and so we just told them to start with words, then the actions come. i think that is something our family lacked. we barely said that at all, barely hugged or said we loved each other. (something I would definitely like to rewind and redo) it makes such a difference. but yeah that was a sweet lesson. plus from the family they have a new person helping around the house and she isnt a member so we will start teaching her too. her name is erika and she is a pretty cool girl. she likes the teachings of the church and is learning a lot. it is so great to see her faith grow. i love it. but we just expalined a little about god and our purpose and then we were on our way. so we´ll see how she takes the message this week.

We also went with this family from Hermana Ana Maria. her kids Delma and George are not members and they are super cool. we have them wanting to be baptized now but they are just not understanding why they really need it. so we explained to them really really clearly, but with a lot of love, that their baptism really doesnt value before god. we shared with them a scripture from hechos 19 1-6. from the bible. i cant remember what that book is in english. but yeah they loved it. it talks about the people who needed to receive a new baptism. and they really understood it. but we´ll see. i told them to pray about it every night, and read the book of mormon every night and then they would know what they would have to do. i hope they follow through with it so we can put a date with them.

Then we have the Family Claveria, they are super cool. the one girl is 19 her name is noelia and her husband is kevin 19 also and she is going to have a baby soon. her dad is named jose, he is a super cool guy too and is really nice. We watched the Joseph smith movie with them and they loved it. they are pretty smart and arent going to take it so easily but they have a ton of questions which we are able to answer really confidently which is good. they are super cool too and it is cool to see them grow as a family. the sad thing was that apparently the dad was kicked out of the house because his wife was really mad he is listening to us. so we are trying to deal with that right now, which was the reason as to why they couldnt come to church on sunday. but we are going to try and talk to the wife. so many people have confusions and they all listen to rumors from people who left the  church and are mad at it, or to people who know nothing.  we're actually doing good here and now the pastors are getting nervous.

Also with the family Reyes, i love that family so much. they are members too, they help us so much. the boys always go on divisions with us and they help us with a lot of lessons. then when we get back the sister and mom makes us a drink or something to eat. it is great. they are such a cool family. the lights went out and they havent had lights since last wednesday. i think something is up financially but im not sure but we made it fun. we played with them a game and then we all made eggs and then we ate together. it was a really fun night. then afterwords we shared a really spiritual moment with them about the light of christ. haha and we used the comparison about the candle and the light of christ. they loved it. but yeah, then something that was cool that we saw when we were walking home and we were seeing members doing their visits. it was cool to see. haha the mormon church is starting to take over san fransico. we are really getting them motivated here and it is great. me and my comp are doing a lot of work and it feels so good to see it pay off.

also all the missionaries did a dance in my district for a activity for another ward. it was awesome. you´ll have to wait till the chip gets there to see the video. haha

but yeah that was my week. it was a great week and we worked pretty dang hard. it is really paying off and we are having fun here. of course dont worry yourself. when i say fun it means we are working really hard and making the most of our time and trying our best to bring back the people to god's family. we are making it so they can enter into the kingdom with god. it really does kill me to see how people can not be a part of this gospel. it is the only gospel in the world that has the most deep doctrine ever and coolest people ever. haha. but really, take away all the worldly concerns that the people have, and look at what Jesus Christ actually wants in his church and any one can figure out that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is his church in the world today. i love it so much and i love my savior so much too. i love you guys and hope you guys have a good week. i miss you a ton.

Love
elder shipley
