Hey there, Just so you guys know you are always in my thoughts and prayers. I really hope you can feel those, and that includes everyone, family and friends, anyone who is reading this. I miss you guys a ton and really do love you all. But especially for papa, I know what ever happens, happens  - but the Good Lord has his plan and is ready for what ever needs to happen. Anyways here is just a little bit about what happened this past week with our investigators. we had a really good week.

So last week I had my first baptism interview. with a sweet old hermana from the other area and she is really nice. She is super humble and has really been changed by this gospel. I remember one of my friends told me the best thing of doing the interviews is just seeing how the person has really changed in this time. It was neat.  She had her baptism this last Saturday and let me tell you it was hilarious. It all started by us bringing investigators to it as well, and we ended up finding a guy in the street who told us he had a vision and he saw God's hands and that God gave him a rock and that now with that rock he has the power of God.  That is the first part.  During the baptism some dog kept sneaking into the baptism and running through the crowd of people and was causing quite the commotion. haha it was funny but we finally got the dog out, then the time for the baptism came and the husband was supposed to baptize her. he kept trying to hug her and go down together, it took like a good 10 times until finally elder mcnabb just put on the clothes and did it really quickly. then after that while they were changing we had a testimony meeting in which the man who had the vision, decided he wanted to get up and share his story.  Oh man it was good. but really interesting. we're going to try and teach the guy this week to see what really happened and tell him the correct way we receive authority.

This past week we also had interviews with President Stay and that went really well too. I love that man so much he is just so inspired and so loving.  Everytime he talks to us he tells us exactly what we need to hear and it is great. Hermana Stay too is such a great mission mom for me. She really does take care of me and makes sure I am doing ok. We were all leaving and she was just saying bye to all the missionaries and then when I went to say goodbye she told me that she is really happy with all the work that I am doing here in the mission and is really excited to see my progress here in the mission, and how she feels like she is really my mother and seeing her own son progress. It was really neat to hear that. They are just such great people. I hope to be like them in the future.

So our investigators. First off, there is Brenda and Sandra. Sandra is a mother of 3 kids, and Brenda is the sister of Sandra and we found them about 2 weeks ago.  This last week went really well with them. We gave them a book of Mormon and when we went back 2 days later to see how their reading was going they already read 10 chapters. I couldn't believe it.  It was amazing. They love it and they are learning so much from it. I shared with them about chapter 8 and they were just so happy to see how the book of Mormon can really apply to their lives. It was cool.  We ended up putting dates for baptism with them and so Brenda, Sandra and Sandra's son will be baptized the 29th of October. It is really neat and I am super excited for them. They are progressing quickly and I'm happy to see what these next couple weeks will bring for them.

Also we are teaching a lady named Luisa, she is a really really cool Hermana. she is super nice and she is loving all the things we are teaching. she kind of has a problem with the members though, she says they are really cold, but in all honesty she is not to welcoming but we are trying to help her in this. we are planning a lot of family home evenings with her and some other members and i think we will probably put dates for baptisim with her too by the end of this week.

The others, we are teaching Vivian and Jason who are new that we found and we still don't know a whole lot about them but they came to the baptism and after they were all like, I want to be baptized now. haha. so well see what happens with them. also with A new family we found named the Family Gomez, they are super cool and really nice. they live really humbly and don't have a whole lot, but they have a past with the missionaries and so we are going to see what we can do for them.

Anyways that is really the big news that happened this last week. I am loving it here. so many things are happening here and i wish i could tell you all of it but youll just have to wait till after the mission. haha im evil i know. well i realy do love you guys and i miss you a ton. i know that this church is true, and i know with all my heart the book of mormon is true. if people just wouldnt be so prideful and actually read it they would know that it is true too. a girl told this story, i cant remember where from but i loved it, she said that her friends were talking to her and telling her how her church wasnt the true church. she asked them how they knew it wasnt true. they said that they read all the anti mormon stuff online and that from there she knew. then she asked if they had read the book of mormon, and they said no, then she told them that they knew nothing about the religion. and until they read it they cant say anything. well i hope you all have a good week and cant wait till next week.

with love
elder shipley
