Elder Walker says hi, and he says he can’t wait to meet you in a few months. He is going to ask his parents about it, but they do come from England. Well zone conferences are now over and things are back to normal again, just trying to catch up on some office work from being out for 2 weeks. We needed to bring in two elders to help us get some stuff done and they were a huge help to us. We are almost all caught up on our work. I had a little incident but I will tell you about it when I get home. We are not allowed to talk about what happened over the internet or to any other missionary. Nothing too bad happened and all is good now so you don’t need to worry.
That one family that was progressing, well I am a little bummed about that because we had them so close to baptism and I was really hoping they would be my last couple baptisms but I guess it wasn’t meant to work out that way. So we went with a lawyer who was going to talk with them and we got all their papers out and it was kind of a mess. We need to get a lot of papers renewed and paperwork signed by certain people and then once we get that, which we should have by Monday it will take 10 days to process in the system in Guatemala, and then another 8 days to process all the work that is needed to be done. So they are ready to go and be baptized, but just not now.
Yeah I heard about Eric’s job he got on your blog that is so great, will he be able to take off the next week though to be down here in Guatemala? That is really neat though; he will be great at doing that and will have a fun time working in such a nice building. I had put his name on the prayer role about 3 weeks ago now in the temple.
I have been doing horribly mom on eating, I am really out of shape and I hope to get back into shape when I get home. We just have been eating so well lately, these last 3 weeks and I can understand why President Stay is a little big, ha. We ate so well and he continues to take care of us. I love eating with them. We are however doing a workout program that is really intense and we do it every morning. It is a program called insanity. It kicks our butt every morning. I plan on following it more faithfully when we get home and you guys can try it with me too when I get home. Let’s just say I fall to the ground after almost every workout it gives you and looks like we all just swam after we get done. We are just dripping with sweat.
I remember who Kat Howard is, she is a great girl and we had some fun times in classes I had with her. It has been awhile since I have talked or heard from her though. That is funny that she recognized me though. I hope she and Tam come to the talk. I hope I can give a good talk. Brother Holmes gave the assignment to talk on the Blessings on using the Priesthood Power. I am going to talk to President Stay about it and see what he thinks. President says he is against the idea of bishops giving assignments for missionaries, he thinks we should talk on 3 stories where converts were converted to the church and invite the youth to go on a mission, and finish it up with how I became converted due to the mission. I think I can kind of relate the two though.
It is raining a ton here, there is a hurricane that is hitting north Guatemala and it is raining a ton here. My shoes are starting to tear up now, I just need to them to last me one more week, but my feet are getting pretty wet though.
Mom, I was sitting in church last Sunday and I felt like crying looking at that hermano who doesn’t have a suit coat. I know I look good in it according to what you say, but I know I can bless his life by giving him this suit and he can feel more confident when he is up there. He is the most humble guy I know yet and it just tugs at my heart to see him up there Sunday after Sunday without a suit coat. I know he will be really happy
Baggy, estoy, but not too much. I have such a desire to work hard and do what is right, but I find myself day dreaming at times and thinking of how things will be. It is weird but it will pass.
I would love to get them all gifts too, mainly the family from here I would like to get for the family of Thomas and Karen, they are so nice to us and help us a ton and always give us food when we have nothing. The sweetest couple ever, Eric will meet them right after we pick him up from the airport. Then for the Reyes, Magda, and for the family of Borris from Mixco. Definitely for the Jensen’s and the Stays as well. Elder Jensen gave me a blessing the other night when I was feeling a little uneasy about some things, and he gave me a powerful blessing. I felt so comforted and at peace with the words he said. He truly is like a father for me. He reminds me of dad a ton. I love them both dearly. Anyways, for gifts I am not quite sure what would be good gifts.
For the Stays, I got them a gift but if you want to send them one, you can still send one. I know president Stay lost his beloved pen that he loves so much, maybe he would like another one, but I don’t know, you can think of something nice.
That sounds like a great schedule, thanks for going through with all the trouble in helping me get back on track and moving along. I just need to find a job to get me going too that will help me focus on my studies as well.
Well mom, I sure do love you. Our journey comes to an end next week as it will be my last p-day and my last time signing onto my mission email. Weird huh? But it sure has been a great time and I am so glad for the entire spiritual and emotional and everything we were able to talk about here. You have been a huge part of my mission and helped me feel comforted in times of need and have always helped me. I love you mom and I could not have asked for anyone better to be my mom.
Well I will talk to you next Saturday.
Have a great week,
Love,
Elder Shipley
He looks REALLY daft here and I think he has Pres Stay's coat on. |
