hey mom, ha yes that is a sentance, it means, how do you say... haha, well im doing good hear and enjoying my time.
Man, did you hear about caitlin? she had a really good friend who returned in october from my mission, he had an accident and died, it is so sad i feel so bad for her, she is such a good friend to me, can you find a way to contact her and see how she is doing and comfort her someway. thanks mom.
well here is my week
lunes- so on monday last week after i got off internet we went to the chapel and played soccer and just hung out with the zone, after that we went to this mall that we usually go to called mira flores and there we ate at chilis, it was so good. afterwards i had to teach a family home evening to our mission leaders family which went really well, i talked about how we can all be missionaries and that we all need to be missionaries. i talked about how the sons of mosiah went and taught to their enemies the lamanites because in their eyes they were their brothers. how cool is that? it is so true because everyone is our brother and sister in this world and really we should be wanting to teach the gospel to everyone. even if we hate some one so bad they are still our brother or sister so we need to have love for everyone. so that went really well, then after that we got to eat snacks and watch a little bit of the national football college game. that was so cool, ha i thought it was funny that it was in arizona, i was telling the family look there is my home, ha and they were like really, and i was just like no, haha. but i taught them the game football and now they love it. they want to set up a ward activity and play it one day. ha that will be fun. then we got calls that night that we werent having changes so that is ok with me, so another 6 weeks here in mixco with my same comp. it will be fun though.
martes- so this day was normal, we went and we were teaching some lessons like normal but this one in particular was kinda funny but weird at the same time. ha this man was telling us that Jesus lives inside of him. he says that we can have him live in us too if we just pay to go to their church and then we can have a little miniature Jesus in our hearts too. we were just like um, no thanks, ha then we taught him about what it says, i think its in hechos about how you can only receive the spirit by the laying on of hands. ha and he was just like nope you have to open your heart and let him in. then after that guy we went to this other ladies house and she was really really old. she was like 96, and we were teaching her daughter who had 75 years, so as we were teaching the old old lady comes out of no where and grabs my arm from behind and is saying something but i couldn't understand her i was pretty scared but it was funny, my comp was laughing so hard, haha. but yeah that is pretty much all for tuesday.
miercoles- so we started the morning by going to our changes meeting, that was pretty fun. i got to see all my old friends and see where they are going and stuff. most of them are still in their first areas so that was cool. so after cambios we went back to mixco and went to work with our mission leader. he was with us all day and showed us minus activios. that was alot of fun and we got a lot of work done, then at this one house the lady asked for a blessing, i told her ok and told my comp to do it but at the last min she was like no i want you to do it. haha i was like uh oh, haha i was so nervous and didn't think i could do it but man i can tell you, now i understand listening to the Spirit. i said the first part, and then everything else just came to my head, it was amazing, i said words i didn't even know how to say i guess. but then when it was over she was just like, wow thanks that is exactly what i needed to hear. it was so cool.
jueves- so this day was a normal day too, we went and taught some people and the day was normal, then at night we had a fhe with a family who lives at like the top of the mountain. and wow their view of the whole city was amazing. i took a picture it was so beautiful. then we went home that night and just were relaxing and i was writing in my journal when all the sudden we get a call from Ernesto's wife. she was like just balling. so we ran over there real quick with our mission leader and everyone was crying, i thought one of the kids died or something so i was just like i want to see all the kids right now.(I love how tender Daniel's heart has become) once i saw that they were all ok we went into the other room and found out what happened. i guess ernesto robbed someone or something and the wife was just saying that he brings shame to the family and felt so bad for it. but we just shared with them some scriptures and then were on our way, i couldnt believe that he did that. i was a little bummed. but oh well. so that was thursday.
viernes- so we worked with our mission leader again and we just went to members houses and asked for references, we met this really really cool girl who is actually from chimatinango. she was so cool and we taught her and she said everything makes sense and she really liked it, however she is only in mixco on the weekends so we can only teach her then so hope fully we can get her baptized soon. i think in like 3 weeks we will but we´ll see. then that night we had another family home evening with hermana flor who was a ccm teacher. she was so cool. wow she gave such a good lesson and she told us her conversion story. wow it was amazing, she said some missionary contacted her on a bus and she said she didn't think anything of it and just went on normally but she gave him her direction and then went on her way, then the missionaries came to their house and she said the Spirit was with them was so strong that she couldn't refuse it. she had to have them keep coming back and eventually was baptized and then served a mission and her whole life has been dedicated to the church ever since then, she said she is so thankful to those missionaries who worked hard and came and found her. that is so cool. but then she went on and told me that she could feel that same Spirit with me, i thought that was so cool how nice of her. she really is such a cool girl and she is awesome. i want to be so much better now and contact everyone i see because you never know who your going to let go, then have that Spirit with me at all times so i can let people feel that, that is one of my goals.
sabado- so this day nothing much happened but we went and taught this one man named sergio, I'm teaching him a little English and the gospel at the same time. he is a really cool guy and he loves the church but he just keeps saying that he doesn't want to play games with God. he is such a great man though and i really hope i can baptize him before i leave. also that night me and my comp had a fhe with this one family and we just watched the video to this end was i born. wow you guys need to check out this movie, it is an amazing movie, i loved it so much. after the movie, i just bore my testimony cause i didn't want to take away from the Spirit that was there and then we left. so hopefully they felt something. actually i think they did because they were in church yesterday which they haven't been in like 3 years. so that was really cool.
domingo- so once again i found someone who has made spaghetti that is the best i have ever had, ha man, mom you have some serious competition. haha, it was amazing, it was with our elders quorum president carlos and his wife made the food, it was so good, i think the ward knows that is what i love or something because alot of people are making it and they say they don't usually make it but they say they know i love it. haha, so we were there for awhile and carlos showed us his family and we just had a good time, then after that we had a meeting with president alvarado. every month we have a meeting with him and talk about the month and our goals and how were going to improve what we failed on. it was really cool, that man really is inspired because we would just be talking and he would just give us ideas on what we could do to improve. i love that man and its going to be sad when he leaves. anyways so there was my week. i had a great time, it was actually a really long week i couldn't believe it but another week down, and tomorrow i hit 5 months, i can't believe it,
oh and i also thought of a couple things, so i need more of that letter stuff that i write people too. so if you could send that, and also a book called the day of defense. it sounds like a really good book and alot of missionaries have it. well i better get going, i love you all so much and am glad to hear most things are going good. i love you guys and i´ll talk to you next week.
love elder daniel shipley
