Such a humble life
hey family,
i hope all is going well for you guys and that you are all having a good time and being safe. we had a really really hard working week this past week and it feels so good except i got a little sick towards the end and i am just so beat right now, but 17 more months of being exhausted. i am going to complete 7 months this Saturday, can you believe it. i can't, time is flying by and it is scary but at the same time i am so excited to get life started when i get home, but still a lot of time here so don't need to worry about that. anyways here is my week.
Monday - so we didn't do to much on Monday we just went to the church and played ping pong and it was so much fun. we had a blast, too bad i didn't win but we still had fun playing. then we went to the famous mira flores for eating our lunch it was pretty good. it is my American food day i call it because i usually eat at burger king or somewhere. but yeah it is so fun. but anyways we had two lessons that night, or two family home evenings. and they went really good, at one we had two new investigadors come and they loved it. we taught about the spirit world and they were so interested. then at the second one i taught about the atonement. which went really well.
Tuesday - so in the morning we had our district meeting and then in the afternoon we just contacted pretty much all day and it went really well because we finished up one area and are now ready to move to the next area. but that night we had two lessons also and one was with a recent convert and his good friend who is investigating now and the other was with the family of Ernesto. it was just pretty normal not to much happened but still went really well.
Wednesday - Today was a pretty good day today as well, we did a lot of contacting again, which i really don't like because it is the worst kind of work we can do as missionaries, we get no success that way and have a really hard time doing it. it is so much better to work through members. but anyways that night we went to this one kids house named Antoni and it was so sad, he wants to be baptized but his mom is going to another church now, she used to be Mormon, but now is attending another church and wont let him be baptized. she says when he is 18 he can make his own decision. it is so sad. he knows the church is true, even though he only has 9 years but he knows what we are teaching is real and that it is what he needs. but we just shared a scripture in doctrine and covenants about how if the parents do not raise their kids in the right church and do all they can to help them, then it falls on the parents head. so hopefully she will come to her senses soon. so anyways after that lesson we went to another lesson with a recent convert and we are now teaching her two brothers. it went really really well and they are just as cool as Diana also. who is my first convert. anyways it was just amazing and they told us they know we are the true church but want to study a little bit more. so that was cool
Thursday - So Thursday was a pretty good day too. we just taught quite a bit of lessons and we had one that was just super spiritual. it was just really awesome. so we have been teaching her for a while now and we have been teaching a ton about baptism and getting nowhere with her but we are finally making some progress. we had this one lesson with her and it was so spiritual, we were just asking her questions trying to find out what was making her scared of baptism and then with every answer she gave was an excuse of why she didn't feel ready and with every answer we shared a personal story about our past that could hopefully help her, and it really did. the Spirit was so strong and you know i don't cry but i was teary eyed, and she was crying and everyone else was crying. it was so awesome. then when we ended we told her to pray and really honestly ask God if this is what she needed to do. when she started her prayer i was just praying so hard in my head for her to receive her answer, she started and couldn't say much but when she ended she told me she knows what she has to do and she wants to be baptized. she just needs to talk to her husband still for the permission. i really want to see her get baptized this change and we are working really really hard for it. i hope she does. but yeah it was just a pretty good day.
Friday - so today was kinda a bummer because all our lessons canceled on us but other than that it went really well and we did a alot of contacting. and taught this one family which went really well, they were so cool and they gave us this thing that i have never seen before. it is fried bananas, at first it was kinda gross but then it got good. just a really different kind of taste.
So Saturday and Sunday i´ll combine in one since not a lot happened in these days. Saturday morning was really cool because we put 2 fechas with these kids and are looking at 26th of march for their baptism. this is the brother and sister of my recent convert. then in the afternoon we picked up one of the kids we are teaching and took him to this activity at the church, then went back to work. but when we went back to the church to pick up the kid the members were just so impressed. they told us that normally the missionaries would just stay and play but we went to go work. they were happy to see us working hard and told us they were happy to see that we take the work seriously. so that was a good compliment we got. then a member fed us for dinner that night and just bought pizza hut which was so dang good. haha. and on Sunday we had church which went really well but i was a little sick and was going to the bathroom like every hour on the hour, it was horrible. all during the night too. but i busted out those pills of the doctor and i feel better now. haha. but yeah we also had our correllacion with president Alvarado and the stake that night and it went ok but those meetings we never really get anything done and so pres told us that this would be the last one as long as he is president. but anyways that is pretty much it for the week. it was a good hard working week. and by the way here is our new president, his name is Larry R. Stay. you can look up his picture by typing in google his name and mission president of Guatemala mission south.
but yeah well i will talk to you guys later i love you all and i´ll talk to you next week.
love your son
