Ok here is the big news. drum roll please, haha, i have been transferred and i am outside the cap.
On Monday I was still inside the cap and during the earthquake I didnt feel it because I was playing ping pong. haha, but everyone else felt it. It was an intense game. haha.
I am now in an area called Oratorio which is located in Santa Rosas which is outside the cap about 2 hours away, and it just so happens to be the area that is producing all of the earthquakes. haha We are safe here and the Lord protects us. If anything bad is going to happen I have faith that Pres will receive the revelation for us. Also other big news... I am now the District Leader. how cool is that. I have 2 other elders and 2 hermanas. It is really neat and I am going to learn a lot this change. My new comp is Elder Peña and he is from Mexico.
Another country to cross off the list. The suitcase is in the mission home waiting for Terry to come, the sad news is that I only will be able to send and receive mail every 6 weeks when I go to the cap, ha so that should be interesting. George, Sharom and Noelia all commited to baptism. Too bad I wont be able to be at their baptisms.
A couple things, I cannot believe that: one, alexis is getting married, two, mitchell welton is getting married, and worse of all janea parks. haha that is so crazy. All my friends will be married when I get home.
That is really neat that you had a good time at the broadcast. alot of people here loved it too and it is really neat to see how the Apostles and Prophet change the our lives for the better. They are such inspiring people.
I hope that papa will be ok and I know that whatever happens it is the will of the lord. We cannot judge at all what will happen, but we must accept always what the Lord has instore for us. I really think it is a good decision putting him in the home and it will help nanny alot as well to live these last couple years in peace. I really hope you can continue to be healthy and get better everyday. I love you mom.
Monday through Wednesday I pretty much just went and said my goodbyes. It was a lot harder this time. I dont know why. I had a really really hard time saying goodbye to the family Reyes. We went over there on Tuesday night, we got there at about 8 because they were the last ones. I was talking with them and we played a game because they were all sad and then when it was 9, I said we had to get going. They were just all bawling really hard and even I started to cry a little bit. I have so much care for that family and I'm really going to miss them alot. They are just so nice and really are like my family here. Definately a family we will be going back to visit when you guys come here with me.
Also it was really hard to say goodbye to Hermana Mamalinda and Ileda. There was just so many people here that I had a hard time saying goodbye to: Danny, George, Kevin and Noelia, and etc. I know that they will be blessed and their lives are forever changed, but more importantly my life is forever changed thanks to all of them.
Here in Oratorio, there is nothing. We have no investigators, no potentials. Sounds fun huh. haha well were really working hard here and it sure has changed in just a matter of days. We have about 5 investigators now and four of them came to church. I don't know what we did on Sunday but somehow the President just announced in the sacrament meeting that he felt a really strong spiritual impression from me and my comp when we walked in and he just wanted to announce that to the branch and to let them know they expected a lot of really good things from us. It was a neat feeling. There is this one family and the kids just got baptized but the mom didn't. I was talking to the mom last week and apparently no missionary has ever been brave enough to have a really good talk with her and we ended up teaching the first lesson. She is really interested in it and says she would like to continue listening to us and even commited to coming to the General Conference. So that will be really neat. They are the family Barrientos.
Also there is this one family who is family of our comedor. We went there and they thought really bad of the missioanries too, but i explained a lot of things to them that they didn't know and questions that they have never even thought of and now they are super interested. They are the family Pineda. The only thing with them is that they think that dancing is a thing of the devil and that they don't think that we care for the youth of the church, but I quickly shared with the mom about the program the church has, for the strength of youth. We have an appointment with them on Wednesday to see what they think about it.
We found the Family Gomez. Their daughters are members as well but apparently the parents just never really had the interest to come down from where they life and to come to the church. So we went there and we talked with them and we had a really fun time talking with them. I taught them from Alma 23 and how the Lamanites changed and became better people and how they too could be better and live better lives.
That is pretty much the big news for now. I love my new area. It is great here. It is just beautiful. I can't even begin to describe it to you. The people here have a different accent but I love it. I love you guys and I miss you a ton. I'm really happy to know that all is going well there with you guys and I´ll talk to you next week. Have a good week.
Love Elder Daniel Shipley
