Hello mother

How are you doing?

Just keep on trying to help nanny out in everything and help her stay strong in what she believes. She needs to realize that sometimes commitment is good. Hopefully she comes around soon.

That is a really cool experience you had there mom. Thanks for sharing that with me.
I know too that God really does answer our prayers.

I hope all goes really well for cookie but you guys should really look into taking good care of Grammy as well.

That is great you are working out too. I am also starting to work out too. I feel good but I am way out of shape. I tried doing push ups from a hand stand position and I think I pulled a muscle in my back. So I just stretched it out. I feel good now.

That is great that Jayton Birch is going to Utah. He will love it there and will probably see a lot of general authorities.

Yes, I was really sad to say good bye to elder Chaves. I loved that kid. He truly was a great missionary and he finished really strong. We had a great time. I think he was probably one of my most favorite companions next to elder Hardy. Anyways, we really did have a good time and the change just went by super fast. I will miss him a lot but maybe I will see him again in Costa Rica one day.

Anyway my new companion is from Guatemala again. His name is Elder Castro. He too goes home in either May or July. He has been given the option and so he is waiting to find out from president what he can do. With that said though, it is official. I will be finishing my mission here in the area of Trebol and as Assistant to President. I was kind of hoping to be taken out in 2 changes to go and train but, this is what the Lord wants so I will do it. We are not in the office anymore. President called two more secretaries now and so we are strictly just the spiritual aspect of the office. We don’t have to do any admin work. With that said though we are now in charge of teaching doctrine to all the missionaries through divisions.  It also allows one of us to be in our area at all times so we are hoping to see some success coming up soon. We have just found a new family. They are the family Barton. They are super nice and way cool. They can probably be about 5 baptisms from there. They were an old family of investigators from the previous missionaries but we went there to visit them and see how they are doing and they seemed really motivated to listen to the missionaries once again. We are working really hard on trying to find new families to teach though. We will be having another baptism this next Sunday with a little girl named Sharon. It was weird, she asked me to baptize her, and I thought she would ask like the bishop or something.

So I tried sending you the memory card in the mail with that letter but it didn’t go though, so I will send it again another day. Yes, we are still located in the huge house and we love it. We cook sometimes, but mainly we just eat out in the street or the members cook for us. They are really nice here in this ward. I love it here.

No I am not thinking of growing my hair out before I come home. I keep trying to grow it out but I can’t get past a certain stage. I just do not like how it looks when it gets long. So I like it better short.  So how was your RS party, or activity that you did. Did you have a good time at it? What did you guys do? Did you know that jen krauss is also getting married. That is so weird to think about all these people getting married.

So you want me to be more descriptive in my email eh. Well McGee, let us see here. I will tell you a story of something that just happened last night. So my companion and I were talking about what we needed to do for the change and what we needed to do for the zone leaders as well as the area. I feel as though we need to help the members a lot more and then doing so will help us get more investigators and have more success here in the area. So last night we were working really hard at visiting a couple people and we decided we would end the night by visiting the bishop. He sadly wasn’t home but we were in the door talking to the bishop’s wife and we asked her if she needed help with anything. She just said that she needed help with some of her kids. She wanted us to maybe teach them something that would impact them and help them come back to the church. She said she has her two that are members, the other two who are not. I told her, wow sounds like you are my mom talking to me. Ha, but she then went on to tell us some things that were happening, and it just hit me exactly the words I should of said to her. I told her to not worry, I told her that if she herself is faithful and does all that she needs to do in being a good mother and stays true to the church that she would be blessed and her kids in a future day would feel the need to come back to church. She just started bursting out crying. It was really sad. She said, Elder how did you know that is exactly what my patriarchal blessing says? I was just like, wow. I got a little choked up in that moment and I was just so happy that in that moment we were able to help her. She really is a great lady and is so nice. I love all these people here so much mom. I can not wait to see you guys again. Only like 5 more months, but really, it makes me really really sad to have to leave these people. This mission is such a great experience here and I am really learning how to just forget about myself and just worry and serve others. There is no other joy. I feel so happy when I am serving them or other missionaries. Now I know why God himself and Jesus Christ do all that they do. They love us and they love seeing us happy. I love them for that and I love this gospel and this church. If we truly do follow all the things that it teaches us we can find the perfection. Sometimes we just settle with the excuse that we will never be perfect. That is not true. We can be perfect and we need to start thinking like that. We need to take action now so that we can do what we need to do. There are people waiting for their friends, families to come and share with them the true gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no other way to share it other than by us and through us. I love you  mom and dad and I hope all is going well for you guys. I hope you have a great week. I will talk to you next week.

With love,
Elder Shipley
