Why hello there mother,

How are you doing?

I really am going to be sad to leave elder Castro. He has been a great companion to me and it will be sad to see him go.  I will be training an elder next change as a matter of fact; the thing is though is that I will be training the next assistant. I will be finishing my mission right here in good ol Trebol. I really am happy though, I would not want it any other way. I have really been able to develop a close relationship with President Stay and he has helped me so much. Even though he probably doesn’t know, but he truly has, just by his example. I have been blessed because as hard headed as I was in the beginning of my mission without studying for like the first year, and now studying when I have time, my Spanish has become pretty decent. There are still little mistakes here and there, but that is everyone, even the Latin’s.

We took a bus because the senior couple companionship had the car that week and we didn’t have a way to drive out there. Plus it was cheaper for us to go out in bus instead of take the truck. It has been raining a lot here and I love it, well not when we work, but the rainy season is making it so nice and green here. It will be beautiful when Eric arrives.

So President Stay told me that he is perfectly fine with Eric staying in the white house that night and until I leave the mission. If anything though I would like to pick Eric up that night from the airport so that we can go out to dinner and then if you plan to put him in the hotel, that is fine but I will take him to the hotel. However if you would like to save a little bit, then he is perfectly fine with just staying in the house. I was planning on taking him with us to the meeting on Tuesday we have for new missionaries and then he could get to know them a little bit and see what it is that we do that day. Then I was planning on going out and visiting a couple people that afternoon and instead of taking my new companion I could just leave with Eric. I could show him a couple places like the central market and other places that Guatemala has to offer, mainly just some key families that I would love for all of you guys to meet, but I will show them Eric for now. Anyway, other than that Wednesday morning we have breakfast and then we have the change meeting, and he will see me be released from assistant and the new assistant will be called in that moment. It would be cool if he could record a lot of that meeting. Like the elders singing and etc. That afternoon I believe we go to the temple as a group which is a bummer he can’t go in, but Wednesday he will literally be my companion. I plan though on going to the temple and then visiting a couple more people and then around 5 we have the dinner with president stay. He will have to go from there with the new assistants or with the secretaries, depending on what he wants to do, but he will go with them and then we will meet back up at the white house in the night time. We will sleep and then we will fly home that next morning. He will ride with me to the airport because he will be my companion. Guatemala is a safe place, but it isn’t really a safe enough place for someone to be just walking around. There are a couple cool places that I bet he would love to go see, and the senior couple can take him over there. It is a place called Antigua which is the old town for Guatemala. He might be interested in that. The hotel Barceló is like right down the street from president’s house and from our house, and from the senior couple’s house, in which they too have offered to let him stay there. They are really really cool people, if he doesn’t stay with me; I would recommend he stays there with the Jensen’s. I will talk to the Jensen’s though about maybe taking him around town that Wednesday night while we have our dinner with president.

As for the man with the mural, I need to get him the money next week. So if you could send me that money soon so that I can get that to him. I will check my email on Monday so tell me when the money will be available then. As for gifts for anyone, I can’t really think of anything but if you can think of something you would like to give out then that is fine. For President Stay, I would still like to take him out to dinner so I will let you know when I have a date set for that.

I am seeing the blessings of my service here in Guatemala. I hope you guys can feel my prayers too.
Well, we are about to head out now. We will be busy with changes coming up and I think that Conner might come home, but I am not sure, all the missions in the world do their change meetings on different days. So things are going good here in our area. This last week we celebrated the Fourth of July with a family and it was a blast. I really could feel a sincere love for all the veterans this year. I am so thankful for all the things that they do for us and the love and support they give us. They put their lives on the lines so that we can have the very freedom we have everyday. It is something that we take so much for granted but I am so thankful for people like Caitlin Flakes' dad,  papa and grandpe, any many more. It is pretty impressive to think about the great things they have accomplished to make this country a better place. I love seeing the hand of the Lord in all the things I do. I love you so much mom and I hope that you guys are doing great always. I pray for you and know that He will protect you all. I´m almost home, but there is still a lot to do here. Talk to you next week.

With love always,
Elder Shipley

It's GREAT to see that Daniel is still Daniel!
