hey there, i am so glad to hear that your knees are doing alright, and i hope that they get better, keep working them out and dont let them get bad, also try to become more healthy because i dont want you to keep hurting your knees. and i hope dad is doing alright too. sounds like things are just a mess without me, haha, well i hope and pray for everything to get better there.
(All is good here - Dad's back problems ended up being a case of shingles - not fun - very painful - it's like having the chickenpox for a LONG time. poor guy. My MRI revealed a small tear - i may need surgery but I opted for a cortisone shot and for the first time in a long time - both knees feel good - maybe an answer to your prayers?? If so, thank you.) and that is cool that eric came down to help. and that dinner looks really really good. i wish i was there. the district is good, we have alot of unity and get along really well. i have been trying to do activities to remind ourselves who we are and why we are here. and it has been helping me out alot. it is cool that we can all be fun at times but we have a serious and very spiritual side to us all. it is great. how much money is in my checking account, and yeah im not sure about the debit card, they all seem to just use their cards but they say that sometimes people will pick up the checks for missionaries. but not often. and i believe that all the mail goes through the mission home, we only get it like every 3 weeks ive been told but im not sure. so i´ll let you know when i get there into the field. and yeah the ccm makes us take free haircuts every 3 weeks and from what i heard the miss presidents wife gives haircuts too once were in the field, but if not here they are like only 8 quetz which is 1 dollar. it is really cheap here. everything is really really cheap, it is great, i cant wait to come back with you guys and show you around. and yeah i ahve been eating alot which is why i cant understand, they put the scale out on monday so i´ll see how much i have lost, i started at 198, and lst time i checked i was down to 190, and that was 3 weeks ago. and we just had our safety meeting with the docotr and guess what, new mission rule is that there is no more contacts allowed, so i´ll be sending those home. they say missionaries have been going home blind because of the bad air and the humidity. so i´ll be wearing my glasses alot now, ha, hahaha,
(I sat by Gage in Sunday school - he said he is going to write to you.) About gage, well i hope he writes me, i would love hearing from him and seeing how he is doing. and yes i have alot of friends here. me and elder durfey have become really good friends but it is a bummer because he is going to central and im going to sur, so the next time i see him will be on the plane ride home. there are two movies that are very interesting about church history. you should watch them, they are like documentaries, we watched them the other day. they are called the journey to faith or something. but yeah somewhat interesting but it talks about the guatemala area and how it is the place of the land of nephi. they believe that guatemala city is the land of nephi becasue it is high up and in the scriptures it always says we go up to the land of nephi, so this would be the place.
(we are on fall break - i'm trying to read a lot about church history - it really is fascinating - you can so see the hand of the Lord in all that happened to restore the gospel. I know the priesthood has been restored, the prophet, apostles, temple work - it is all so awesome and it is so wonderful for you to be apart of it all right now - bringing the gospel to those in Guat - right where so much of history was made. ) last night we had a devotional with one of our area 70 and he said that we shouldnt go 5 mins in the field without talking to someone. so i want to make that a goal. and yes we all leave on tuesday morning.
(so this about wraps up your time in the CCM - i hope you have enjoyed it - every step of your mission will be unique - enjoy the moment - it will not come your way again. We love you Daniel and pray for you to be safe and have the Spirit to help with the language and to know who to talk to and where to go - always be obedient) there are 18 going to the south mission. i cant wait to go and meet my trainer. the elders we see in the capilla tell us that there is big news so i don't know what to think about that, but yeah. haha
(Daisey sends a bad breath smooch and trust me it is stinky!!!) tell daisey i love her and cant wait to see her again. um a couple of questions i have, can you get me the wightmans address, oh and look up this song, llevaremos su verdad al mundo. it is a great song i love it. last week we sang with the primary kids and it was awesome, they love missionaries so much and i am so thankful i had the opportunity to sing with them. the spirit is so strong in the primary kids songs and it was just a really neat experience with them. then we walked around the temple with them and they got to peak there heads inside the entrance, it was hilarous. well, i love you all and am so thankful for everything. i´ll be on later, i am going to the temple soon and they are kicking us off now. but i hope all is well and everything is going good. i love you.

*I added parts of my letter because Rachel asked, "what are you writing to Daniel, that he spends so much time writing about your knees" - it sounded like I was complaining - so in defense.....

email from last week,
Hey dad,
Things are going really well. Is mom going to the gym with you and working out? Good luck in your tennis leagues and make sure you win for me. ha. No we have not seen any gang fights here and people love us here. Something i have learned about the culture here is that the people here love with their hearts instead of their heads. The other latinos say that Americans love with their heads and that we need to be trained the other way. I have 2 more weeks yesterday until i get on a bus and go to my mission home and then 2 weeks today i'll meet my new comp. i am very excited. We h ave not gone anywhere exciting this week but next week we go back to the plaza to contact some more. i feel more confident this time around now though. Yes send the ipod as soon as you can, and make sure there is the armies of helamen song in spanish on there. It is a really good song. also some enya too and any music that is uplifting that will make it last for the next 2 years. I have trust in you that you have put good music on there though. I cannont wait to come back here with you, although i wont know my way around very well i definately have some places to show you, it is amazing here. It is absoutely beautiful here and you all would love it. the market has some of the best food you could ever eat and the bananas here are to die for. well i'll talk to you later. I love you
